Susan Wakefield Preator, a founding owner of Imagine Learning, Inc., has served as CEO and President since the company’s beginning in May of 2004. Imagine Learning’s mission is “Teaching English to the children of the world” through the use of computer programs. These programs are sold to public schools across the nation and internationally to schools and parents. Over 250,000 students have benefited from the software that accelerates their language acquisition and literacy skills.
Prior to Imagine Learning, Preator was Vice President of Waterford Institute, a non-profit educational research organization. There, she directed the team that developed the Waterford Early Reading Program, a children’s literacy software program that has been used by millions of children in schools across the U.S.
Preator holds a bachelor’s degree in English with a minor in Marriage, Family, and Human Development from Brigham Young University. She is on the Board of Utah Technology Council and a guest lecturer for BYU”s Center for Entrepreneurship and Marriott School of Management. She has earned recognition as a successful entrepreneur from various organizations including Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year Finalist Award. Imagine Learning has earned various awards for its success, including being listed on Inc. 500/5000.
Sister Preator and her husband, Barry, live in Provo, Utah and are the parents of six children with fifteen grandchildren.
