John Fossum was born in Missouri and spent his early years until the age of nine in New Jersey. His formative teenage years were spent in Georgia, where he developed a love for playing sports and catching reptiles. After high school, John served as a missionary in the Philippines. Following his missionary experience, he attended college where he met his wife, Sarah, in a poetry class. On his way to earning both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in English, John worked in the construction industry and learned the value of manual labor. John has taught for the Seminaries and Institutes arm of the Church for 18 years, and he and his wife are the parents of five children and currently live in Pleasant Grove, Utah. John’s hobbies include exercising and going to dinner and a movie with his wife every Friday night.
